Description

Extremely rare panoramic view of Istanbul published by Rombout van den Hoeye. With a numbered key (1-29) to principal places in town and a poem in Latin, Dutch and French. Rombout van den Hoeye (1622-1671) was a printer, publisher, engraver and mapseller, active in Amsterdam. The view is cribbed directly from the Merian view of 1635. Van den Hoeye double the height of the view and added the sky.
Inspite of its restorations a very attractive and desirable item for any serious collector.
