Description

This is a decorative map of greater Russia, extending from Livonia in the west to Kamchatka, China, Tibet, Taiwan, Korea, and part of Japan in the east. To the south, it runs from Georgia (not shown as part of Russia) across the Caspian and Uzbekistan.
There are very good details of towns and trade routes in modern-day Uzbekistan. The region here is labeled as "USBEKIA" The important cities of the Silk Road are mentioned Buchara (Bukhara), Samarkant (Samarkand). Tashkent is situated in a region called Turkestan.

The map contains many names of places and even includes nomadic tent encampments in Mongolia. The map also indicates trade routes from Peking (Beijing) to Selingaiskoi, "Via Nova Caravanoe in Seberiam," and from Agra to Lahore in Mongolia.

The Kamchatka Peninsula is presented in a curious shape.

Lower left a title cartouche surrounded by two Chinese merchants with their merchandise, instruments, and a female warrior and topped with the double-headed eagle of the Russian Empire.

T.C. Lotter married M. Seutter's daughter in 1740 and succeeded him in 1756. Lotter used Seutter's copperplate; he only changed the name.
