René Gruau (1909-2004) was a Franco-Italian artist. He enjoyed real success after World War II working as a fashion illustrator for important houses such as Dior, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. He later also drew for the Lido and the Moulin Rouge.
The advertising designs for Red Kiss (Rouge Baiser) have left a lasting mark on people's memories. Gruau has also signed several advertising posters for perfumes and cosmetics Balmain, Jacques Griffe, Lucien Lelong, Jacques Fath, Elizabeth Arden, Payot, Peggy Sage, Givenchy.
