Description

A chart showing the twists and turns of the Saigon River between Saigon and Cap St. Jacques, produced and published by the Depot General de la Marine in Paris. During 14th and 15th centuries, the cape that would become Vũng Tàu was a swamp which European trading ships visited regularly. The ships' activities inspired the name Vũng Tàu, which means "anchorage". The French Indochinese government named it Cap Saint-Jacques.
Latitudes and Longitudes of the two are given, plus some general remarks. In addition, coastal elevations, depth soundings and river directions are given.
